History of APRIL International Expat

Since it was created in 1975, APRIL International Expat has been creating new insurance solutions and services to provide the best possible support to policyholders worldwide.

Key dates

1975: creation of AIPS (Association Internationale de Prévoyance Sociale) by Benoît Loevenbruck. At that time, the company specialized in insurance for individuals abroad.

1996: creation of APRIL International Benefits, a repricing company in the United States.

1999: AIPS becomes APRIL Mobilité following its acquisition by the APRIL Group. APRIL Mobilité then expands its business to companies.

2002: launch of Garanties Mobilité Entreprise, a group insurance solution for expatriate, impatriate or seconded employees.

2004: APRIL Mobility wins the Tribulis Award for Product Innovation for its Ambassade policy designed for expats.

2005: launch of APRIL Mission, a comprehensive solution for employees on assignment abroad.

2006: launch of the broker access www.intramobilite.fr, designed to allow insurance professionals to take out insurance online and issue an insurance certificate within minutes.

2007: launch of the new version of the website, www.aprilmobilite.com with online purchase open to individuals.
Opening of our representative office in Mexico City.

2008: launch of the Visit'Assur policy for foreign visitors staying in France and of the Euro Cover + policy for expats of all nationalities staying in France or in the Europe-Mediterranean zone.

2009: launch of the Pack Spécial PVT (in partnership with the CFE) for young French people going abroad on a working holiday visa.
APRIL International wins the best health policy trophy at the Journées du courtage, an annual insurance event.

2010: launch of Ned's Expat, the first health insurance policy specifically designed for Dutch expats in France.
A unit dedicated to supporting schools and universities for the insurance of their international students also is created.

2011: APRIL Mobilité becomes APRIL International Expat.
APRIL International Expat enters into partnership with Handicap International and the Nicolas Hulot Foundation for Nature and Mankind.
Launch of APRIL Social Security top-up insurance for expatriates in France policy, the first insurance solution designed specifically for expatriates in France with basic cover.
APRIL International Expat wins the best healthcare product trophy for the APRIL Social Security top-up insurance for expatriates in France policy at the Journées du Courtage.

2012: launch of the new version of the website, www.april-international.com, currently available in French, English, German, Spanish and Italian.
Opening of our representative office in Bangkok, Thailand.

2013: launch of the APRIL Expat mobile app, available in English and in French on the App Store and on Google Play. Designed for travelers, working holiday-ers, students, employees on assignment or expats and is very useful when preparing a trip or after having reached your destination.

2014: APRIL International Expat wins a trophy for its webinars designed for partner brokers at the Journées du Courtage.

2015: launch of Asia Health Plan an insurance policy specially designed to meet the needs of expats of all nationalities in Southeast Asia.
APRIL International also launches an exclusive offer for companies who do business abroad and might face safety issues (country risks, kidnapping, ransom...) : Corporate Safety Plan.

2016: launch of the APRIL Easy Claim mobile app, available on the App Store, Google Play and Windows Store. It allows customers to send claims for reimbursment of healthcare expenses in just a few clics.
APRIL International also launches VI Xclusive, an insurance solution designed for international volunteers before and after their assignement.
At the 2016 Argus d'Or de l'assurance, APRIL International Expat wins the special HEC (business school) students prize in the customer relationship and customer loyalty strategy category for its APRIL Easy Claim mobile app.
