When can you see a doctor in Germany?
 
Generally, doctors’ opening hours are:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 to 13.00
Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 to 12:30 and from 15:30-16.00 to 18.00
Closed at the weekend.
 
How much does it cost?
 
All health benefits are relatively expensive, among the highest in the world. In spite of Social Security, there is no “free” medical care, even in state hospitals.
For each consultation (even emergencies), an excess is applied and you are charged a small share of the cost of treatment and medicines. Social Security covers the balance.
 
How good is the quality of care?
 
The German health system has the reputation of being one of the best in the world with an extensive network of doctors and hospitals.
The population has easy and quick access to treatment.
