APRIL Travel Protection inks contract with sta travel to offer innovative policies for leading student, youth operator

May 19, 2014

The newly launched U.S. division of global insurance giant April Travel Protection (http://www.AprilTravelProtection.com/) has signed an agreement with STA Travel (http://www.statravel.com/), a leading student and youth tour operator with more than two million travelers serviced annually by more than 200 branches worldwide, including storefront and college campus locations.

STA Travel customers will now have access to innovative benefits and traveler assistance tailored for the operator’s unique programs by the 26-year-old provider of specialty travel insurance.

“STA Travel’s customer base will be able to make immediate use of our broad offering of insurance options, several of which were previously unavailable in the U.S. market,” said Jason Schreier, CEO, APRIL-USA.

“Travelers will have access to our extensive support network via a number of communication channels – including Skype and live chat – ensuring hassle-free resolutions and convenient opportunities to enhance one’s trip,” noted Schreier.

“Insurance has always been a key part of our business model as many of our programs encompass active, hands-on experiences and often venture into areas with developing infrastructure where good coverage is absolutely essential,” said Adam Cooper, Senior Vice President – North America at STA Travel.

“April Travel Protection offers a wide range of coverage options, including a number of forward-thinking benefits that go beyond the typical ‘what if’ scenarios that are of significant value to our customers,” said Cooper.

STA Travel was founded in 1979 by two student travelers who set out to help other adventurous students explore a world beyond text books.  The company has grown exponentially over the last 35 years while building an exclusive range of products in direct response to the needs and desires of youth travelers.

The company’s passion for changing the way people think about travel mirrors the sentiments of Bruno Rousset who founded APRIL in 1988 with the ambition to Change the Image of Insurance by removing the hassles commonly associated with travel protection and introducing unconventional “Stress Less” products and services beyond those typically offered.

The launch of APRIL’s U.S. division was preceded by a full year laying extensive groundwork to assemble local expertise and facilities that will alleviate the stress of dealing with baggage issues, delays and other travel associated difficulties, while eliminating the need for partner agencies and operators to intervene on their clients’ behalf. April is supported in these efforts by American Modern Insurance Group as its preferred underwriter. American Modern is an AM Best A+ rated carrier, and part of Munch Re (US operations).

APRIL Travel Protection is owned by APRIL, an international group with 45 operational companies in more than 40 different countries.  APRIL is listed on Euronext Stock Exchange and has yearly sales of more than $1.1 billion.

With its guiding principles to build trust, push boundaries, innovate and keep it simple, APRIL Global Assistance Network benefits from an extensive organizational structure servicing more than six million policyholders worldwide. The company’s U.S. headquarters is located at 11900 Biscayne Blvd. Suite 600, Miami, FL, 33181.

STA Travel is a full service travel agency offering 35 years of expertise. STA Travel’s U.S. headquarters is located at 750 State Highway 121 Suite 250, Lewisville, TX 75067.
