APRIL Travel Protection launches 'APRIL choice' on squaremouth, provides fully customizable options for travelers’ unique needs
June 5, 2014
After bursting on the scene with a slew of supplier agreements, the newly launched U.S. division of global insurance giant APRIL Travel Protection (http://www.AprilTravelProtection.com) is now available on Squaremouth (http://www.SquareMouth.com), America’s fastest growing travel insurance comparison site. The development paves the way for the launch of APRIL Choice – a brand new, fully-customizable plan designed exclusively for the aggregator market which allows travelers to modify their policy by selecting upgrades and triggers that apply to their unique situation.
Consumers can also select from several pre-packaged policies including APRIL’s Economy, VIP, Trip Cancellation, Multi-Trip Universal and Multi-Trip Elite plans.
“We are excited to launch our inventory on Squaremouth as the aggregator’s advanced interface allows us to provide all of our innovative support options, traditionally grouped together in various package configurations, in a user-friendly format where consumers can pick and choose the specific types of coverage they need,” said Jason Schreier, CEO of APRIL-USA.
“The APRIL Choice product is the first of its kind on our website that allows travelers to customize most coverage limits based on their specific needs,” said Joshua Walker, Product Manager at Squaremouth.
Designed specifically for the aggregator market, APRIL Choice gives consumers the flexibility of determining exactly how much coverage they need and what types of triggers will activate their policy. “This is the ultimate solution for people with specific needs or concerns who require a semi-comprehensive policy, but do not want to pay for all the upgraded features of our catch-all VIP plan,” noted Schreier.
Among the most significant offerings in APRIL Choice, travelers can now extend their coverage to all accompanying children 18 and under for an additional 5% of the adult policy cost.
Highly recommended for policyholders sharing their coverage with family members, a $500K upgrade will protect up to $500,000 for Accident/Sickness Medical and Emergency Medical Evacuation/Repatriation (increased from $50,000 and $250,000, respectively) for only $23, while coverage for Baggage and Personal Effects can be increased from $500 to $2,000 for an additional $9.
Travelers can add specific triggers for Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption that will kick-in in the event of one or more specific scenarios. For an additional 2% of their premium, policyholders will be protected if they need to cancel their trip due to mechanical breakdown (of plane, ship, bus, etc.), normal pregnancy, family member childbirth or the bankruptcy/default of their travel supplier.
These triggers are in addition to sickness or injury, weather, mandatory evacuation, natural or man-made disaster, strike, employment termination, jury duty/subpoena, felonious assault, natural disaster at residence, traffic accident, military duty, hijack/quarantine, terrorist attack and host death, which are automatically included.
Upgrades to Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption include Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR), which costs an additional 45% of one’s base policy (below industry standard), as well as Cancel for Work Reasons, which is only an additional 25% of the base policy cost. Both pay out above the industry standard at up to 75% of the total trip cost.
“The flexibility makes APRIL Choice the most economically efficient way to purchase the exact policy one needs, while Squaremouth provides the advanced platform that simplifies the process,” said Schreier, adding: “No one wants to pay for coverage that they will never use and APRIL Choice was designed to enable consumers to completely personalize their travel protection to their needs.”
APRIL’s unconventional approach to travel protection has created a buzz within the industry since the company first began laying the groundwork for its U.S. division last year.
For example, the company's signature "Stress Less" Benefits takes on the negative connotations commonly associated with insurance by providing swift resolutions with instant adjudication for travel delays, missed connections, trip interruption, emergency medical and evacuation. This is an exclusive feature only available from APRIL that provides policyholders an immediate decision and on-the-spot payment, eliminating the need for travelers to go into their own pocket or deal with the hassle of filling out reimbursement claims upon their return.
Automatically included with every policy for U.S. residents, Concierge and Travel Assistance Services goes being the typical role of travel protection with features to enhance one's vacation including express airport security assistance, innovative Smartphone travel applications, language services, identity theft protection, airport parking, luggage tracking, retail discounts, restaurant referrals and event ticketing.
APRIL Travel Protection is owned by APRIL, an international group with 45 operational companies in more than 40 different countries. APRIL is listed on Euronext Stock Exchange and has yearly sales of more than $1.1 billion.
With its guiding principles to build trust, push boundaries, innovate and keep it simple, APRIL Global Assistance Network benefits from an extensive organizational structure servicing more than six million policyholders worldwide.
The company’s U.S. division is supported by American Modern Insurance Group (an AM Best A+ rated carrier) as its preferred underwriter and is headquartered at 11900 Biscayne Blvd. Suite 600, Miami, FL, 33181.
